Introduction
A common challenge in media monitoring is avoiding an overflow of irrelevant mentions. With our search interface, you can easily adjust your search criteria to get more relevant results. This guide will help you optimize your alerts using the right features.
β
1. Exclude Words
Use the "Exclude words" field to filter out unwanted mentions.
Example: If you want mentions of "Amazon" but not the rainforest, enter words like "rainforest*" in the "Exclude words" field.
β
2. Mentioned Close To
Use the "Mentioned close to" field to add specific words that must be included in the mentions.
Example: If you search for "school*" but only want results related to politics, enter words like "politic*, presiden*, governm*, congres*, senat*, executive ord*" in the "Mentioned close to" field.
β
3. Alternative Spellings
Add synonyms or and variants of words, also consider adding the hashtag version.
Example: Coca-Cola might also be referred to as "a cola." Try including this as a search term.
Note: Some words can be transcribed based on how they sound rather than their correct spelling. For example, "Coca-Cola" might be transcribed as "Koka Kola." In that case, also search for "a Coke, #cocacola, Koka Cola, Coca Kola."
