How does Slack integration work?

Updated over a week ago

It is now possible to connect All Ears to Slack, through an RSS integration. It takes a few steps to integrate, and you have to be the admin of your workspaces’ Slack account in order to set up the feed.

In order to set it up, start by logging into your All Ears account to collect the RSS-link.

  1. Navigate to the alert you want to connect to Slack, if you want to connect multiple alerts you’ll have to complete these steps for each alert.

  2. Once on the alert page, click ”Share”.

  3. A pop-up will appear – click on ”Link to RSS Feed”.

You’ll be directed to a page with a lot of text - just copy the URL from your browser, you’ll need this later.

Next, you’ll need to set up the RSS integration in Slack.

If you are the admin, open up Slack and do the following:

  1. Create a new channel where you want the mentions from All Ears to appear – make sure the channel is public.

  2. Open the ”Admin” menu, a cog wheel in the sidebar to the right in Slack.

  3. Click on ”Apps & workflows”.

  4. Now – All Ears does not have its own app in Slack as it’s not needed for the integration to work. Instead, you’ll need to use the search function to find one of two options:

    1. Slack’s default RSS App or

    2. Your company’s own RSS app

  5. Scroll down past already integrated feeds and at the bottom of the page you’ll see a section to Add a Feed

    1. Paste the URL from All Ears into the ”Feed URL” field

    2. Select the channel you created in the ”Post to Channel” selection

  6. Click ”Subscribe to this feed”.

All done 🎉 It may take up to 2-4 hours before All Ears start to populate this feed.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you need help setting it up!
