What is sentiment?
Sentiment is an assessment of the tone in the context where your keyword appears. It can be positive, negative, or neutral.
It helps you understand how, for example, your brand is described and discussed in the content you monitor. Another word for sentiment is tone.
How does All Ears assess sentiment?
All Ears uses machine learning and AI to assess sentiment based on the context around your keyword.
Negative words such as terrible, bad, or boring can indicate a negative tone. Positive words such as fantastic, lovely, or good can indicate a positive tone.
If the context is neither clearly positive nor negative, the mention is classified as neutral.
The assessment works the same way as before. The main change is how sentiment is presented in Analytics.
Where can I find sentiment in Analytics?
Open a monitor and on the overview you'll find Overall sentiment which shows the distribution of positive, neutral, and negative mentions.
Click Overall sentiment to open a detailed sentiment report. Here, you can track how the tone changes over time, see which sources contribute positive or negative sentiment, and explore the most positive and negative mentions.
You can also click through to the mentions behind the numbers.
Sentiment isn’t available for every mention. Hover over the chart in the detailed sentiment report to see how many mentions have a sentiment assessment.
Net sentiment has been temporarily removed and will return. In the meantime, you can follow the distribution in Overall sentiment.
Can I adjust sentiment?
Yes. Assessing sentiment is complex, and things like irony can be difficult to interpret. If the system’s assessment doesn’t match your own, you can adjust it manually.
Click the sentiment button on the mention, labelled Neutral, Positive, or Negative, and select the option that best reflects the content.
